KIDS CLASSES

All beading classes are $50 each and include materials. Class fee is required at time of registration. Classes are kept small, 8 students maximum. Please make a reservation, as we cannot accommodate walk-ins.Please give us at least 2 days notice if you must cancel. Refunds are not given on registration costs. You may reschedule or have equal value in store credit. No refunds are given for no-shows or same-day cancellations.

Young Beaders Classes Ages 8-10

Planting Seeds of Friendship Bracelets

Difficulty: Beginner 1 hour

Why are they called ‘Seed Beads?’ Children will learn the basics of stringing small colorful glass beads onto easy to wear elastic string, encouraged to consider use of color and pattern, while being introduced to fundamental beading tools such as bead layout boards for measuring and design and the essential bead stopper! We will discuss friendship and gifting, choosing fun brass charms to add to the playfulness of our bracelets. Each child will leave with 2-3 completed piemces of jewelry.

 


All About Me Nameplates

Difficulty: Beginner 1 hour

Rock a nameplate, the beader way!! Kids will spell their names out in cool gold or silver acrylic letter beads as a centerpiece to an adorable first ID necklace. This class is a wonderful introduction to crimping, a basic beading technique. Colorful beads will be provided for stringing in lieu of a chain. Children will be instructed on measurement, how to use a chain nose plier, and how to affix “findings”, clasps and jump rings to soft beading wire. Each child will leave with one completed necklace.

 

Little Charmers Charm Bracelets

Difficulty: Beginner 1 hour

Express Yourself!! Charm bracelets are all the rage, why not learn how to make one yourself? Children will be delighted to choose from a fun array of charms to create their own chain link charm bracelet using chain nose pliers and jump rings while learning how to size bracelets using measuring tape and bead boards. Parents- your kid will have the skills to fix all of your broken clasps after this! We will discuss why we chose particular charms and consider what charms we might choose for others in our lives.

 


Let’s Make Earrings

Difficulty: Beginner 1 hour

Earrings are pretty, fun, and a great way to express yourself or express your affection as a gift. But who first thought to dangle beads from ears? We will get to that.
Children will learn the basic technique of wire wrapping, the art of using wire headpins to create lovely and trendy earrings using round nose pliers in this fun class that allows kids to choose from a fun selection of acrylic beads to fashion an essential accessory. Clip on backs are available.

 

Young Beaders Classes Ages 11-13

Chain of Jewels

Difficulty: Beginner 1 hour

How ever do they get those beads to stay centered on that chain? Children will learn the method of affixing beads to the center of chain through crimping, a basic and versatile beading technique. Using crimping pliers and measurement, kids will enjoy designing sophisticated pieces of jewelry using a beautiful selection of Mother of Pearl beads and chic metal spacer beads. We will also discuss a little bit of how the sea can be carried along with us on the streets of Brooklyn. Everyone will leave with 1 finished necklace.

 


Ring around the Finger

Difficulty: Beginner 1 hour

Lets reward our hardworking hands and fingers with some adornment. In this class we will learn how to wire wrap single stones to adjustable ring bases with bright, tarnish resistant wire. Kids will learn how to use round nose and chain nose pliers dually, while creating custom pieces of wearable art for themselves, or as gifts. This is a wonderful early introduction into the safe use of jewelry making tools, and with each student leaving with 2-3 rings, a fun class for making gifts for others.

 


Whose that Pearl in the Earrings?

Difficulty: Beginner 1 hour

How does and oyster create a pearl and why do we love to wear them? Summertime pearl earrings are timeless and in this class students will create a gorgeous pair. Using real pearls in a variety of colors, we will learn how to wire wrap using round nose pliers and wire headpins. A classic look that isn’t limited to ‘grandma’ but sure would make a nice present for her. Clip on backs available.

 

Hair it is! Beaded hair accessories

Difficulty: Beginner 1 hour

Give summer hair some flair with embellished bead hair combs! Long or short, get the hair out of your eyes while getting eyes on you with a hand wire wrapped hair accessory that is sure to compliment every outfit. Personalize your style while learning how to use wire, pliers, color and design. Each student will leave with one ornate small stay-in hair comb accessory.

 

Young Beaders Classes Ages 14-17

Instaglam Anklets

Difficulty: Beginner 1 hour

Boho skirts, frayed jean shorts, flowy rompers….its all about the ankles. Students will create on trend ankle bracelets using small and colorful bells to create a fun and fashion forward look that takes them from the street to the beach. We will learn how to use round and bent nose pliers, small ringing bell charms and chain creating on trend anklets. Add sound to your step and make beautiful jewelry that will have your friends asking, “where did you get that?!” Each participant leaves with one completed anklet.

 

Cosmopolitan Crimping

Difficulty: Beginner 1 hour

It’s all about the understated this Summer. Let’s make a delicate seed bead and metal whisper necklace. We will learn the basic crimping technique of affixing clasps and jump rings to soft beading wire, a staple in jewelry assemblage. Although kids will leave with one necklace, this lesson will provide the ability to make custom bracelets, anklets, and body jewelry. Everyone leaves with one finished necklace.

 


Confetti Rings

Difficulty: Beginner 1 hour

Who needs a manicure when you’ve got an amazing handcrafted ring? In this class we will learn how to hand wire wrap individual bicone crystals to create a ring full of movement and fun. Students will choose from a lovely array of colorful beads to create an adjustable ring that is sure to dazzle. We will use several different pliers to make a splash of colors. Each student leaves with one completed ring.

 


Boho Hand Jewelry

Difficulty: Beginner 1 hour

When you live in Brooklyn, you gotta use your hands. This lesson results in one of the most exciting trends, hand chain bracelets. Learn how to make a fine link ring that connects down the back of the hand into a bracelet in one session! This class will introduce basic assembly work to each student, using chain nose and bent nose pliers, precise measuring, and a beneficial insight to jewelry making findings. Turn heads, with your hands.
